Cal. 12 Ga. S# FWE153556. Only made 1929-1944, Houckins estimates a total of 541 - 12 Ga. guns were made out of 771 in all gauges. All have auto ejectors. This gun has 26" bbls. marked "LC SMITH - SKEET SPECIAL" w/ Hunter Arms address on tops. Bbls. are fitted w/ raised matted VR. All correct markings are on bbl. flats & water table. Splinter is of reinforced type for beavertail forend. Case hardened Featherweight action features non automatic safety & Hunter selective "One Trigger." Action is unengraved. Lockplates have distinctive special engraving of bobwhite quail on left which has a clay target super-imposed on its body. Right side portraits a flying grouse. "LC SMITH" is also stamped on each lockplate. Pistol grip buttstock of lightly figured American walnut measures 13 7/8" over open sided "HAWKINS" pad. Flat top point pattern checkering is at grip. Specially shaped & distinctively swept beavertail forend features ejectors & usual J spring release w/ knurled secondary release in ovate escutcheon. MEASUREMENTS: BARRELS: bore diameter: right .727", left .727". Restriction: right .004" (SKEET), left .009" (IC). Min. Wall Thickness: right .04", left .035". STOCK: LOP: 13 7/8". DAC: 1 1/2". DAH: 2". 0 cast. WEIGHT: 7 lbs., 9 oz. CONDITION: very fine, mostly original. Bbls. retaining approx. 85% blue w/ hand wear around breech ends & silvering on edges. Action retains about 60% original case hardening color, silvered on bottom w/ a few minor dings. Lockplates retain better than 80% of their original colors. Stocks retain most of their original varnish finish. Buttstock w/ chips & scratches. Varnish worn through at grip. Forend w/ considerable wear through finish at rear. Checkering lightly worn & has not been recut. Bores are very fine to excellent w/ only 1 or 2 minor pings in left bbl. Action is tight. Ejectors are in time. Trigger appears to work well. 1/4" x 3/8" Chip on right side of buttstock behind lockplate, otherwise a fine example of a hard to find LC Smith. (21-1916/MGM). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
