AUTO SERVICE RIFLE. Cal.7.62 NATO. S# 321196. Bbl. 24". Barrel is marked "SA 11010457 6 65 BU18" / 7.62 MM. In a larger letter size"H&R 7.62 NATO". The 7.62 NATO is enhanced in white. The receiver is not marked 7.62 which is correct for this conversion. These rifles were converted for the Navy at Harrington & Richardson Arms Co. by the installation of a new barrel supplied by Springfield Armory originally manufactured in the correct caliber to eliminate the unsuccessful bushing. The white plastic spacer which attaches to the bullet guide is present. Locking bar aperture rear sight with "battle range" elevation knob. Blade front sight with protective ears. All major parts markings are "SA". Milled trigger guard. Single slot gas cylinder lock screw. Birch stock set. Buttstock marked only with partial "crossed cannons" on left side and faint "P" proof under grip. UNNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: hang tag with matching S#. CONDITION: stock set has a lightly worn arsenal rework finish with scattered handling marks. Metal has a large amount of its original finish with light wear. Barrel retains nearly all of its finish with crisp markings. Very good shiny bore with sharp lands. (24-5435/RW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
