Manufactured in the WWI era by Savage and with Springfield Armory numbered frame, in an effort to supply U.S. military forces as the surge for demand of firearm increased during the war effort. This 1911 as an "X" serial number prefix. According to Hallock's 45 handbook, its said to be a replacement number for frames that had their serial numbers rendered illegible by the sandblaster during arsenal overhaul. According to the book around 3205 pistols from 1925 to 1953 were re-numbered at Springfield Armory. Features a 5" barrel with period correct iron sights, on a Savage "S Flaming Bomb" stamped slide. Also features a lanyard loop and fitted with brown checkered synthetic grip panels. Left side of the slide is stamped "PATENTED DEC.19 1905 / FEB.14 1911. AUG, 19 1913 / COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG CO." with the Savage Armory flaming bomb logo. The left side of the frame is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" with an "AA" inspection stamp and the Springfield Eagles Head inspection stamp behind the trigger. Right side of the slide is stamped "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY" with the serial number stamped below on the frame. A rare and unique 1911! CALIBER: 45 ACP. S/N: X2053. FFL STATUS: Curio & Relic. CONDITION: Retains 60% finish with wear turning to a brown patina. Grips show light wear and a few scuffs in the checkering. Light frost on the bore and good mechanics.
