SCARCE Winchester Model 21 20 Gauge Try Gun Shotgun
Made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1939 to be used by larger Winchester Dealers and Salesmen to fit customers when ordering a Model 21 Shotgun. Gun was originally used with a kit with adjustment tools and came in a carrying case. This lot features only the gun. These guns were built in 12 and 20 gauge and according to Ned Schwing's book "Winchester's Finest The Model 21" approximately only 7 or 8 were made indicating if half were 12 and half 20 gauge, approximately only 4 were made in 20 gauge. This gun is completely fireable and was fired by the customer to get the best fitting adjustments. This particular Try Gun is serial numbered "9676" under the opening lever with matching serial numbered 26" blued Winchester Proof Steel barrels with 2-3/4" chambers, matted rib, ejectors, WS-1 and WS-2 chokes with "Winchester-20 Gauge/2 3/4 Cham" left barrel marking. Blued Standard frame with Winchester Patent marked water table, single selective trigger and non-automatic safety. Walnut Edwin Pugsley designed stock with all measurements adjustable.
