SCI Alaska Chapter is auctioning the following live auction items in support of Ruth Cusack’s recovery after suffering multiple brain aneurysms after a moose hunt last fall. The following three auction items from Jacobus van der Merwe's Hawk-Eye Safaris, Alfonso Fabres's Huntinspain and Erwins Ronquillo's Erwin's Outdoors have been generously donated to help raise money to support Ruth’s recovery.

100% of the proceeds from these items will go toward helping Ruth navigate this difficult time and We thank them for their generous Donations!

Some background: On September 27th, less than 48 hours after returning from a remote Alaskan Moose hunt with husband Louis, Ruth suffered from a brain aneurysm, collapsed, and was rushed to Alaska Regional Medical Center in Anchorage. Ruth was in a coma for over 20 days and in the ICU for over 50 days. She is a fighter and has been through a ton of procedures. The good news is that, despite these many challenges, Ruth is recovering! She is currently breathing on her own, doing daily therapy, and recently said her first words since the event. She is recovering from the trauma and surgery, but she is not out of the woods yet!

On November 6th, Ruth underwent surgery to coil off a second aneurysm and she was subsequently transferred, via medevac, to the Craig Neurorehabilitation Center in Denver, Colorado, she will complete her rehab program on January 29th. From there she will transfer to a second rehabilitation program at the On With Life facility in Ankeny, Iowa.
Ruth is an amazing outdoors woman, hunter, and all-around fantastic person who donates an incredible amount of her energy and time to outdoor conservation and the betterment of Alaska’s wildlife resource. Ruth and Louis, through their work with SCI Alaska Chapter, raised millions of dollars to fund conservation, advocate for hunting rights, instruct outdoor education courses and—as part of SCI’s Warriors On Safari program—provide hunting opportunities for wounded veterans.

By the time Ruth is finished with the On With Life program (if all goes well) she would have been in hospitals and rehabilitation centers for over 180 days!

Ruth and Louis donate their time, money, and hard-earned wild game and seafood to help others less fortunate than themselves.

So! Let’s bid these next three donations through the roof to show Ruth how much we care. Let’s get this amazing lady “Back On The Mountain!
