REVOLVER. Cal. 45 ACP. S# 91311. Bbl. 5 1/2". U.S. Army Model of 1917 double action revolver mfg. by Smith & Wesson. Left side of the bbl. is marked "S&W D.A. 45," with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" marked on the underside. Left side of frame is marked with an eagle head over "S4", with an eagle head over "S23" present next to the assembly number on the interior of the frame. Butt is marked "U.S./ ARMY/ MODEL/ 1917" above the S#. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece aftermarket checkered wood grips. Lanyard loop on butt has been removed. Hammer has had several notches carved into it. Half-moon blade front sight, with frame notched rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, cyl., ejector, and bbl. Frame and cyl./cyl. crane fit is poor. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting scattered areas of pitting and a few spots of oxidation overall. Fair bore, exhibiting consistent pitting while retaining good rifling throughout. Grips show some minor marks and impressions from handling and storage but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable.
