This is one of 200 trials pistol presented by Savage at the US Army pistol field trials that resulted in the Colt 1911 becoming the standard military sidearm. Competed against the German Luger and Colt 1911. This one of less than 100 known to still be in existence with most remaining guns in museums. This firearm was refinished by Savage and marketed commercially. Condition: 80% of the refinish remains. Some wear with some of the checkering flattened somewhat.
