Bolt-Action. WWII era British military magazine fed
service rifle chambered in .303 British. Produced in the United States by Savage (C in serial number) as a No 4 Mk 1* (Star indicates simplified production in North America) for the war effort via the lend-lease program in 1943. 25.2" barrel with integral bayonet lugs, patridge front sight, receiver mounted flip-up aperture rear sight graduated to 1,300 yards, smooth trigger, detachable 10 round magazine, manual safety on the left side of the receiver, integral charge loading guide cuts in the receiver, sling swivels. The left side of the receiver is marked "U.S.PROPERTY", “ No4 Mk1* left butt socket stamped with sn over large "S" with small flaming bomb, matched bolt. This rifle has been sporterized, by modifying the stock into sporter configuration, removing the handguard, and bands, Pachmayr recoil added. Rifle retains approximately 65% of its blued finish , handling wear, magazine mostly in the white. Action is sound, the bore has good rifling, but is dark/frosted. No import marks.
