WWII era British Commonwealth military magazine fed bolt action service rifle chambered in .303 British. Produced in the United States by Savage-Stevens as a No 4 Mk 1* for the war effort via the lend-lease program circa 1942. Features a matte gray blued or parkerized finish, black paint on magazine, 25.2" barrel with integral bayonet lugs, shrouded patridge front sight, receiver mounted flip-up aperture rear sight graduated to 1,300 yards, two barrel bands, smooth trigger, detachable 10 round magazine, manual safety on the left side of the receiver, integral charger loading guide cuts in the receiver, sling swivels, grooved full-length wood handguard, and straight grip shoulder stock with unfinished gray metal trapdoor buttplate. The left side of the receiver is marked "U.S.PROPERTY", "33C3721 / S / 1942" and small US Ordnance flaming bomb symbol. Top of receiver ring is marked with Broad Arrow surrounded by large "U". No importer marks observed. Matching serial numbers are found on the butt socket & bolt handle. Magazine marked with several numbers, some struck thru. Rifle retains approximately 85% of its metal finish showing scattered losses, thinning to bare metal where handled. Action is sound, the bore appears very good condition and the wood stocks are very good with blemishes. Condition is NRA Very Good *** C&R Firearm ***
