Made in Germany and marked F.R. Menzel, who was most likely a Sporting Goods Dealer with gun probably made by Heinrich Kreighoff as evident with a "HK" mark on the barrel flats. Made circa 1925. 26-3/4" blued Krupp steel barrels marked on matted rib "Fr. Menzel Stuttgart" with rifle sights, extractors, and with 16 gauge side by side barrels over 8x57JR caliber rifle barrel. Barrels fitted with claw mounts, new made claws, and Post-War Hensoldt 4x32 scope. Coin finished game scene engraved scalloped action with side clips, cocking indicators, double triggers (front is set), Greener crossbolt and safety, and tang hidden peep sight. Action has hirsch scene on left side and raybuck on right in floral background. Bottom of action is floral engraved with dog clutching a bird and the phrase "Original Anson & Deeley System". Walnut checkered pistol grip stock with right handed cheekpiece, bullet trap, and horn butt plate and grip cap. Matching checkered splinter forearm with ebony tip inlay and Anson & Deeley release latch. LOP: 14". DAC: 1-5/8". DAH: 2-5/8". CALIBER: 16/8x57JR. S/N: 7464. FFL STATUS: Curio & Relic.
CONDITION
Overall 90% fading blue with most wear on edges and handling areas. Action has dull silver patina with sharp engraving. Wood has added finish with checkering refreshed. Good bores and mechanics with clear optics.
