serial #10590, .52 RF, 24'' barrel with a dark oxidized bore with strong rifling. The receiver has toned to a mottled gray patina with scattered pinprick pitting showing some bright blue color case hardening remaining in the protected areas. The lever has toned to brown, the brass buttplate displaying an attractive dull golden patina, the top tang and several receiver screws showing moderate slot damage. The metal markings remain fairly crisp and legible with the visible internal components displaying matching serial numbers, this example retaining the often missing sliding safety. The leather barrel cover shows typical scuffs and flaking with no shrinkage at the muzzle band, tight seam stitching along the barrel, a bit of loss around the left side retaining screw with a hand stitched repair on the base. The walnut stock rates very good as lightly cleaned with a tight 1'' crack behind the upper tang. The rifle functions well mechanically and would make a respectable example for any Civil War enthusiast. (25A11700-8) {ANTIQUE} (1500/2000)
