Made originally by Sharps Rifle Company of Hartford, Connecticut as a Percussion Carbine. These rifles were shipped to Sharps in 1867 and converted to 50-70 Centerfire. 22" blued round barrel with pinned blade front sight and R.S. Lawrence rear graduated flip sight. Barrel is marked with Sharps Hartford address and "New Model 1859" markings. Barrel retains original six groove rifling. Case-hardened saddle ring receiver, serial numbered "54301", with standard 1859 Patents and markings retaining percussion cap feeder. Frame has standard trigger with conversion 1867 spring loaded firing pin. Walnut standard conversion replacement stock with steel butt plate and remnants of "D.F.C." banner cartouche on left side center of butt stock. J.T. Livengood Collection. CALIBER: 50-70. S/N: 54301. CONDITION
Overall fair with metal wearing to a silvery patina with areas of light oxidation. Stock has oil-soaked appearance with having usage marks. Good mechanics with dark pitted bore.
