Sharps New Model 1859 percussion SRC , .52 caliber, 22” barrel, S/N 43187 in overall good condition displaying a grey/brown patina on metal surfaces with areas of old pitting, crisp action, good rifling in bore, overall good wood thatdisplays scattered old mars, dings and scratches from carry and storage. Accompanied by a handwritten note from the consignor stating the piece was found 60 years ago within 15 miles of the Mansfield, LA. Battlefield and had been in aConfederate soldier’s family. Consignor also notes “probably captured from 2nd N.Y Veteran Cavalry “as Union troops in the battle were armed with Sharps carbines. (Antique). Est.: $1,750-$3,500.
