Sharps New Model 1863 Percussion Carbine, #C,47848, .52 cal., 22'' blue tapered barrel with standard sights (rear stamped "R.S. Lawrence" + 1859 pat. date), case hardened frame, fire blue screws, nicely cartouched walnut stock and forend, case hardened steel buttplate. Stock without clearance cut for patch box lid. Oil-finished walnut forend retained by single band, matching buttstock has "T.W.B." (T.W. Booth) + "D.F.C." (David F. Clark) inspectors' cartouches at left, 2 inspectors' marks at crescent buttplate, correctly lacks patch box. ''L.W.'' acceptance marks to left side of barrel near breech, saddlering attaching iron, bottom center of forend just forward of operating lever, and top of stock just forward of buttplate tang. Condition is near excellent retaining approx. 92% blue to barrel, with losses as corrosion spots halfway between muzzle and barrel band. Case hardened colors to frame and buttplate remain approx. 95% vivid, as do fire blued screws. Stock shows light scuffs with extremely crisp cartouches. Barrel has been later lined with the Government conversion type three-groove barrel liner, which shows a bright near perfect bore.  Carbine was originally .52 cal. perc., converted to .50-70 in 1868, and inspected by D.F.C.  Action is crisp, primer cap feeder is present and operational.  Est.: $5,000-$7,500.
