Silver mounted California belt knife with characteristic belt hook on scabbard and finger grooved marine ivory grip circa 1850-1880’s in the classic gold rush style. The knife measures 10 ¾” in overall lengthwith a 6” clipped point thin steel blade with a point measuring ¾” from edge to back. The blade shows minor pitting and erosion. The grip shows deep patina with age cracks. The leather scabbard shows California stylecarving and is fair with some tears and small losses. This knife is just the type worn by successful gentlemen and thugs on the Barbary Coast as male jewelry. Est.: $750-$1,500.
