SN: 107457 WWI era U.S. military large frame double action service revolver chambered in .45 Automatic, manufactured circa 1918. This revolver was send to Great Britain during WWII as aid under the lend lease program. Features a blued finish, pinned 5 1/2" barrel, forged round blade front sight, 'u' notched rear sight, smooth .265" trigger, .265" hammer with knurled spur, fluted six-shot cylinder, non-shrouded ejector rod, five screw square butt N service frame with lanyard ring on the butt, and two-piece smooth walnut grips. All observed serial numbers are matching though the grips are unnumbered. US Military marks: Barrel - "United States Property" and [Eagle Head]. Frame - [Flaming Bomb], [Eagle Head]/"S2", [Eagle Head]/"S1", "U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1917" & "No/107/457". Cylinder - [Eagle Head]/"S24". The barrel, frame and cylinder have been English proofed with 1925-1954 era London Proof House marks and the frame is stamped "NOT ENGLISH MAKE". Revolver exhibits approximately 90% of it's blued finish showing high point edge wear, scattered handling marks/scratches and finish loss on the grip straps. Action is smooth with very good lock-up, the bore is excellent, markings are good and the wood grips are good to very good. Condition is near NRA Excellent. ***C&R Firearm***
