SN: 17778 'Model of 1905 - 3rd Change' S&W Military and Police revolver, nickel plated, 4" BBL, hard rubber grips, inscribed "Chief Deputy Bill Decker Dallas Co. Dallas Co. Texas." The revolver is in good original condition w/ 50-60% nickel showing, good action and bore, good grips. A notarized letter of provenance from historical arms collector Bill Haase is included. Also this cataloger John R. Gangel aka "Little John" of Little John's Antique Arms and Auction Service is familiar with this pistol. It turned up more than 30 years ago with Decker's gold inlaid cutaway T.G. .45 autos and was obtained by Bill Powell a noted Texas gun collector who traded it off in the late 1990's. "Bill" James Eric Eric Decker was a key player in the JFK assassination and before that, he worked on most of Dallas Co's most famous cases, including the ambush of Bonnie & Clyde where his informants provided him the "Drop spot" for mail which was the site where Frank Hamer's Texas Rangers put an end to the pairs "infamy". A book on Decker is included and he is most known for being behind Ruby when he shot Oswald and aiding in the apprehension of Jack Ruby with whom he had a "very close association". the book has a very significant amount of information, but there is a lot more "to the story" which went to the grave with Decker.
