US Military revolver manufactured for Lend-Lease to Commonwealth Forces in WWII Early issue with no 'V' prefix. Features 5" barrel, fixed sights, swing out 6 shot cylinder, single/double action, lanyard ring in butt. Wartime "Victory Model" based on five screw K frame Military & Police. Bore is excellent condition, bright with crisp rifling. Cylinder charge holes are bright and smooth. Metal finish is wartime dark gray parkerizing, 90% coverage with some scratches/scuffs. Trigger and hammer retain dull case color. Lanyard ring in the butt. Grips are smooth wood, good condition with minor scratches . Action is smooth with tight lock up. Markings include the standard S&W, the trademark on the right frame is feint, and the British broad arrow between two 'D's (Australia). "FTR/M 55" marking means it was rebuilt and probably refinished in 1954 by the Australian Lithgow arsenal, and 'Crown 30 L, (Lithgow proof) stamped on the right frame. Serial numbers on cylinder & barrel match frame. 'F' is stamped on the bottom of the right grip panel. The left frame is stamped 'Vega SAC CA', who re-imported these revolvers back to th US from Australia in the 1980's.
