SN: 36275. This revolver has been chrome plated. WWI era U.S. Army contract large frame double-action service revolver chambered in .45 Auto, manufactured in Springfield, MA . Features a chrome plated finish with matte cylinder, top strap, and grip frame, pinned 5.5" tapered barrel, forged round blade front sight, "u" notched rear sight, fluted six-shot swing-out cylinder, non-shrouded ejector rod, case hardened .265" smooth trigger, case hardened .265" hammer with knurled spur, five screw square butt N service frame with lanyard ring on the butt, and smooth walnut grips. Mismatched serial numbers on the barrel, cylinder. Other Markings: Frame -"U.S/ARMY/MODEL/1917". Barrel- "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A./PATENTED DEC.17.1901. FEB.6.1906. SEP.14.1909", "S.&W. D.A. 45", "140462". There is a eagle head proofs. U.S. Property stamp on barrel. The chrome has many minor scratches, the bore has rifling with dark frosting in the grooves, the grips appear to be newer replacements, very good condition.
