Smith and Wesson Special Model Military & Police revolver, .38 S&W Special caliber, Serial #713044. The pistol is in nearly excellent overall condition with a 6” barrel. The pistol retains approximately 95% of its brush blue finish with light wear at the muzzle and a faint drag line on the cylinder. The pistol features vivid case colors on the hammer and trigger. The checkered wood medallion grips are in very good conditionwith small mars and compressions consistent with use and a “P” proof on the butt. The bore is very good, the action crisp and markings are sharp. The pistol includes a Smith and Wesson factory letter confirmingall features and indicating shipment to British Purchasing Commission, 95 State St., Springfield, MA on November 14, 1940. This “Battle of Britain” revolver was manufactured for the British Commonwealth nations from1940 to 1945 and nicknamed the .38/200 British Service revolver due to the chambering.
