NVSN. Early British military breech loading conversion of a muzzle loading Enfield musket chambered for the .477 Boxer cartridge. Circa 1860s. Features a blued finish with a 26 1/2" barrel and fixed blade front sight/bayonet lug, tangent rear sight, graduated to 950m, three barrel bands, brass endcap, steel cleaning rod, brown leather sling, rounded trigger, brass trigger guard, cupped hammer face, 1861 dated Enfield lock, firing pin cover, and full length straight grip walnut stock with smooth brass buttplate. Includes an original bayonet with reproduction scabbard. Breech lock is marked 'BSA Co.' and 'Snider/Snider insignia/patent', lock is marked with [crown]/VR, buttplate is regimentally marked with '67/356' stock is marked 'DC' and has a circular cartouche 'R[crown]M/Enfield/1' and the receiver is marked '2/*/*' with various other military proofs. Rifle exhibits some bluing in the protected areas with a majority of the surfaces turned a brown patina showing some scattered dark rust and minor pitting. Action is mechanically sound, the bore is very good and the wood stock is very good with some blemishes and small losses.
