Description: Bighorn Sheep hunting season details: Season will run from: September 1, 2024 - December 31, 2024
2024 Bighorn Auction License will be valid in the following three hunting units
1) Custer State Park (CBS-CU1) includes the fenced portion of Custer State Park
2) Elk Mountain (BHS-BH2) Elk Mountain Area (herd shared with Wyoming)
3) Hell Canyon (BHS-BH4)
4) Auction License will be valid for the 2024 hunting season
A person can purchase the auction tag for another person. However, once the application to receive the license is filled out, the license cannot be transferred. Hunter will be allowed to use legal weapon of their choice (rifle, archery, or muzzleloader), if minimum requirements are met for that weapon. Shoulder-held firearms w/ minimum of 1,000 foot-pounds at muzzle, muzzleloading rifle require a projectile of .44 caliber or larger, muzzleloading handguns require a projectile of .50 caliber or larger, and bows must have a minimum pull of 30 lbs. and not have telescopic sites. A 5% buyer’s premium will be added to final auction price by Midwest Chapter WSF for wild sheep management initiatives.
