Our Southeast Alaska Mtn. Goat hunt takes place in the Misty Fjords Wilderness Area of the Tongass National Forest. We base our hunts out of Ketchikan, Alaska, where we will pick you up, depart, and return via the 70' charter vessel the Grizzly Rose!
The hunt takes place the end of Nov through Mid December and will be shared with one other hunter who is accommodated in his own stateroom. This hunt focuses on late season rut and winter range for these goats, putting them within range of the fjords and beaches in slide areas. This is one of the better opportunities for a goat if the hunter's physical condition inhibits the possibility of climbing thousands of feet in elevation to get to early season goats.
Our goal is always to harvest mature animals with a 10" plus Billy a real possibility. While this is our goal on every hunt, the goat that presents the opportunity isn't always the biggest that we see. Physical condition, as always, increases your odds, however if a hunter flexible goals the opportunity to harvest a goat with a shot from the beach goes up!
We typically see goats every day that the weather allows, and during the course of our 12 day hunt we are usually awarded a shot opportunity on every hunt.
The Grizzly Rose is our newly constructed, custom liveaboard, built specifically for our Southeast Alaska hunts. We were able to include 2 private queen staterooms, each equipped with their own Queen-sized bed and dedicated bathroom that includes a shower all to yourself! We welcome the addition of non hunters as well as spouses/kids as the accommodations are more than comfortable!
Sitka Blacktail, and Wolves can be taken at no additional charge.
After Goat has been harvested Sea Duck Hunting will be an option.
