Spencer Civil War Carbine .52 RF SN: 29109
Antique Civil War era breech-loading lever action repeating rifle chambered in .52 Rimfire, manufactured circa 1863-1865. The Spencer was adapted by the Union Army during the American Civil War and was the world's first military metallic cartridge repeating rifle. Features a blued 22" round barrel, front sight base with pin but no blade, flip-up ladder style rear sight graduated to 700 yards, rounded trigger, knurled hammer spur, 7 round tube magazine located in the buttstock, Stabler magazine cut-off, sling bar with saddle ring, 'J' shaped finger lever, smooth walnut forend with single barrel band, and straight grip shoulder stock with metal carbine buttplate. The barrel shows traces of bluing along the stock line and around the rear sight with the balance showing an aged grey/brown patina. The former case hardened display a mottled light/dark grey patina. The lever/feeding operation seems to be in good working order but the hammer & trigger mechanisms need repair, the three land bore is fair with pitting, markings are mostly present and the wood stocks are poor as the buttstock is broken at the wrist. Condition is NRA Poor. ***Antique Firearm***
