Made by The Spencer Repeating Rifle Company in 1865. These were purchased from the government with about a thousand guns procured. Blued 20" round 50 caliber barrel with 6 groove rifling, blade integral front sight, graduated rear flip sight with barrel marked "M-1865" at breech. Case-hardened frame with cut-off switch and plain trigger marked on receiver "Spencer Repeating Rifle Co Boston Mass. Patd. March 6, 1860" with"7583" serial number on tang, Government "P" and "R" inspection marks on and near sling bar. Standard plain walnut stock with sling swivel and magazine tube in butt. Matching plain standard walnut forearm. CALIBER: 50. S/N: 7583. FFL STATUS: Antique.
CONDITION
Overall Good with metal having a plum patina and some light oxidation. Wood has traces of varnish with some noticeable dings and marks. Dark pitted bore with visible riffling and good mechanics.
