Spontoon with engraved body. On an old shaft with red woven decorative neck piece. Iron head is approximately 13” in overall length with cross piece approximately 9” wide. The head is pierced with circular, dagger-shaped, triangular and other various cut-outs. The old wooden shaft is approximately 58” long to the bottom of the head and shows a general red color matching the woven decorative neck piece. This polearm is in overall good to very good condition showing engraving of a bird with snake in its mouth on one side of the pointed blade and a simple line engraved along the edges of the head. There is general pinprick pitting on the metal from age and there is a touch mark on the base of the head on one side. The shaft is good overall with scattered losses to the painted finish on the wood. Est:$600-1,200
