Springfield 1873 Trapdoor .45-70 SN: 23107
The consensus is these rifles were assembled using surplus parts by Bannerman's in the 1920's and 30's. They are unique and have become collectible in their own right. 45-70 caliber, 32.5" barrel. VP and eagle head proof on barrel. Top of breech marked Model 1873 with eagle and US. Lock plate marked US Springfield 1883 with eagle. No "U.S." on the buttplate tang. With rifle musket walnut stock with faint SWP cartouche on the left side. Action is smooth/tight, wood is very good, finish has turned a gray/brown patina, breech block markings, and serial number are faint, cleaning rod present, bore is good with rifling present. NRA Condition-Very Good. Antique Firearm.
