Last of a long line of Springfield Trapdoor models to serve the U.S. Government troops. Has the long "Rod Bayonet" unique to this model. blued finish, Lock marked with the U.S. Eagle and "U.S. Springfield". "VP/Eagle proof on barrel/Breech block shows "U.S. Model 1884". Straight grip stock with 2 barrel bands and sling swivels still attached, 32 1/2" barrel with adjustable Buffington rear sight graduated to 1500 yards. Marked "R". U.S. marked curved buttplate, faint inspectors cartouche on left wrist, "SWP 1892"right buttstock unit stamped with "P" proof. Action is crisp/tight. Bore is very good, needs cleaning. Wood is good. Metal finish has mostly a brown/gray patina. Front sight blade has been replaced by a larger brass blade. Has a WW1 era M1907 sling marked "W.T.& B. Co. 1918" and inspector, "R.A.C." NRA Condition-Very Good. Antique Firearm.
