Springfield percussion musket, approximately .70 cal., serial #NSNV. The musket is in good overall condition with a 24 ½” round barrel. The barrel and receiver have gone entirely to a dark brown patina with some pin prick pitting and surfaceerosion noted. There is an old proof at the left rear of the action which is difficult to make out but includes a “P”. The musket was converted from flintlock during the period of use. The action is Springfield marked and dated 1849. The smoothwood stock is in good condition as well with small mars and compressions. The butt stock ends with a smooth metal butt plate and includes the ram rod. Est.: $400-$800. (Antique).
