Stock bending is the Art/Science of 400 years practice which makes a piece of wood conform to the body shape of the owner for more accurate usage of the firearm.
It may be done on riflestocks as well as shotguns.
Traditionally this method is used to "custom fit" a gunstock to a new owner.
It is also used to correct warpage encountered by weather/extreme heat which causes wood to move unpredictably.
