Taino. PreColumbian. Superb three headed Zemi. No other example know with 3 distinct finely crafted Anthropic heads. Each head has eyes that are drill through, a unique Taino design element. The two distal heads are rounded and dimensional while the cabeza at the top is a more compressed formate. A collar of alternating triangle encircles the top head. Both sides are completely decorated with incised swirls representing bird heads. A small depression centers each side of the cone. The base is slightly concave and cupped following ancient design models for Zemi bases. There is a thin shallow linear fissure across the the top left of the cone natural to the stone. Made from a granitoid stone. Length 7.8” Taino Culture c600-1500 AD. From the estate of Dr. Robert Woodruff, Professor of Entomology U.of Fl.
