Cal. 450. S# 9. Bbl. 4" octagon. Depressing latch at right front of frame & turning the bolt allows the bbl. to rotate to the right and slide forward for extraction. Right side of frame has spring tensioned loading gate that rotates rearward for loading. Double action only. Checkered walnut 1 piece grip w/ steel buttcap. Left side of frame is marked "Thomas Patent No. 779" over serial number "No. 9". Unusual revolver mfg. by Tipping & Lawden of Birmingham, England. Top of frame is engraved w/ retailer marking "HOLEYWELL & TOLLEY / PETERBOROUGH". Circa 1869-70. CONDITION: metal finish had faded to brown showing scattered light pitting & surface corrosion. Grips have age darkened appearance w/ worn checkering. Trigger return spring is collapsed, trigger must be manually pushed forward to cycle. Bbl. is loose on frame. Bore retains intact rifling. (01-25619/DS). ANTIQUE. $300-500.
