Two of these sextants are made in England and date from WW2 the other is Soviet and dated 1962. 1). HUSUN made by Henry Hughes & Son of London. The instrument is of brass construction with a non-reflective black finish and appears to be complete and serviceable. The fitted wooden case measures 10 1/2" X11" X5 1/2". The label dated 5/10/40 is clear and legible. There is an oil bottle and spare eye piece. CONDITION: The sextant has moderate wear from careful use. The brass is turning a pleasing dark patina . Lenses and filters are intact. Case has moderate handling wear, scuffing and staining. There is an open crack across the top of the lid. 2). Heath & Co. New Eltham, London. The swinging arm is also tagged "HEZZANITH" "Endless tangent screw. Automatic clamp". Constructed of brass with dull dark green and black finish. The instrument appears to be complete and serviceable except that the light no longer functions. Fitted wooden case measures 11" X 10 1/2" X5" and contains 3 eye pieces none of which are fitted on the instrument when cased. The calibration label is from "National Physical Laboratory and is dated 1944. CONDITION: The sextant shows careful use with notable wear on the scale. The exposed brass shows some discoloration and patina. Lenses and filters appear intact. Case has moderate wear and scuffing. Calibration label is legible. 3). Soviet Cold war era sextant. All markings are in Cyrillic. The instrument is of light alloy construction and finished in a dull military green. Case, data book and sextant are all S# 1893. Sextant appears complete and serviceable. Fitted hardwood case with spring shock absorbing arrangement. Calibration book has earliest date 1962. Case also contains spare eye filters, oil bottle and spare locking screw. CONDITION: Sextant has light overall wear but appears in good serviceable condition with intact lenses and filters. Case has light to moderate wear with a good appearance. (02-23918/RW). NON-GUN. $500-800.
