The U.S. Model 1903 service rifle was such an excellent design that it was used by United States soldiers in WWI, WWII, Korea and even Vietnam. This rifle is a Remington 1903-A3, .30-06 caliber, manufactured at the Remington Arms factory in Ilion, New York, in April of 1943. Its accuracy was so well respected that it was commonly used as a sniper rifle, particularly in the later wars. Although it is not possible to know exactly where this rifle was used, these rifles served from Algeria to Burma, and from Peleliu to Salerno. Before the M1 Garand was produced in sufficient quantities, the Remington 1903-A3 was a standard issue rifle for the U.S. Marines fighting in places like Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. And if this rifle could talk, its stories would no doubt be riveting since this is one of the guns that won WWII. This rifle would make a perfect addition to a collection, or for use during re-enactments, or just to have fun at the range and think back to the brave soldiers who fired it in wartime. Value: A treasure for the lucky winner!
