U.S. 1835-dated L. Pomeroy contract musket converted to percussion, .70 caliber, 42” barrel, iron mountings, wood stock with socket bayonet and woven sling; overall good + condition with grey patina to metal surfaces, strong action, overallgood wood with scattered mars, dings and scratches from carry and storage; two visible inspector’s cartouches on left side of stock, old carved initials into the right butt stock; accompanied by a note from the consignor who states this gun was found in Greenville, Texas and he further opines it may have been one of the guns that General Joe Shelby took from Tyler, Texas C.S. Armory & Arsenal on his way to Mexico after the Civil War so he and his troops wouldn’t have to surrender. (Antique). Est.: $1,000-$2,000.
