U.S. Early WW2 M1 Helmet.
Original early-WWII CAPAC manufactured M1 helmet liner. It features non-painted steel A-washers and a first pattern rayon suspension, dating the liner's production to mid-1942. The rayon suspension is strong and intact; it comes complete with its original George Frost Co. neckband. the headband appears to be a newer replacement. Mid-1942 fixed bail "Steel Pot" M1 Helmet with original chin strap. .Liner manufactured in Capac, Michigan this “high pressure” manufactured M-1 helmet liner is identified by an embossed “cross” with the words “Capac” in the crown. Capac Manufacturing Company started M-1 helmet liner delivery to the US Army in September 1942, and discontinued production around August 17 1945 when the war ended. Original U.S.M.C. reversible camo cover. From the Joe Musso collection. This helmet was supposedly used in the 1949 movie "The sands of Iwo Jima", Mr. Musso was a personnel friend of John Wayne. he has many behind the scene photographs on the set. Four of these original photographs are included with this helmet. All are stamped on the back "Approved Hollywood" and dated 1949,
