SHOTGUN. CAL. 12 ga. S# 78798. 26", round. Bbl. bead on the ramp front sight. Bbl. is marked on the left side "SAVAGE", "SAVAGE ARMS CORPORATION" / "UTICA, NEW YORK, U.S.A." / "MODEL 720", with "P" over a flaming bomb, "SP" in an oval, and four stars. Right side is marked "PROOF TESTED 12 GAUGE" / "2 3/4" CHAMBER". Receiver without "game scenes" is marked on the left side with "P" over a flaming bomb and "U.S.". Plain walnut stock set. Forend has grasping grooves. Replacement black plastic buttplate with Phillips head screws. CONDITION: stock set has a worn original finish with numerous scattered handling marks. Forend has a 6" crack on the lower left side. Metal retains 75% of its original worn, thinning blue. Receiver and trigger guard tangs have a notable area of pitting at the rearward ends. Several screw heads have a touch of blue. Very good, shiny bore. (24-1436/RW). CURIO. $400-600.
