U.S. Military Lot.
1) There was a drill competition held in the Army of the Potomac. The winning regiments were to receive fancy French Chassuer uniforms. The winners of the competition were the 62nd, 83rd Pennsylvania & the 18th Massachusetts. Part of the uniform they received was a leather shako with stamped brass front plate. This is a plate from one of those shakos. At center is an infantry hunting horn insignia on a black painted field. The black paint shows several small chips. A large wreath of oak leaves surrounds this central design, which is surmounted by a spread-winged eagle with a painted US shield on his chest. The paint on the shield is in good condition. Reverse has two brass wires for attaching. 2) 1834 Light Infantry "Eagle" Cap Plate for 1832 US Army Shako. Stamped brass. prongs intact. 3) Early Infantry Eagle plate for use with the M1821 shako, very thin stamped brass, prongs intact, the left wing tip has been folded. 4) U.S. Civil War regulation 1851 pattern, brass, eagle waist belt plate is the rectangular, concave, detailed plate. Comes with Keeper. 5} Brass U.S. Civil War belt buckle, lead filled back with belt loop and prong. Nice patina. 6) WW2 USAAF 13th Air force patch 7) WW1 Victory medal, restrike. 7) Civil War/Indian Wars crossed sabers for kepi, prongs have broken off. 8) Six Indian Wars Eagle buttons. 9) Army Majors dress Cavalry shoulder straps, New. 9) M1881 helmet plate Helmet plate displays the Great Seal of the United States, with the American Eagle with a banner in it's beak stating: E PLURIBUS UNUM. Helmet plate is in excellent condition, with all three attachment hooks present. The side cockades over the years are of crossed Rifles for an Infantry Soldier, with brass crossed rifles M1881 side button. 10) Mexican American War Shako Helmet Plate. 7" x 51/2", maker marked "Bale". 11) Lot of 3 reproduction shako plates. M1834 light infantry eagle, M1820 USMC eagle/anchor plate, and War of 1812 era "Marines" brass shako plate. 12) Pair of silver toned Colonel rank insignia.
