U.S. Model 1861 musket marked, New York with eagle and dated 1863. The .58 caliber rifled musket was manufactured by Sarson and Roberts, subcontracted by Alfred Jenks of Philadelphia. The musket is one ofapproximately 5,140 manufactured. The musket shows gray/brown patina finish with scattered light pitting and good lock markings. The lock works well and the musket has been bored out to smooth. The stock isfair to good with minor imperfections and an old repair using filler to the bottom of the fore end about 1 ½” in length and ¼” - ½” in width. The sights, bands and ram rod are retained. Est.: $500-$1,000. (Antique).
