U.S. Property marked Model 1911 semi-automatic pistol by Union Switch & Signal, .45 caliber, 5” barrel, S/N 1047388, in overall fine to excellent original condition with approximately 98%-99% DU-LITE finish, crisp action, sharp markingsincluding an “RCD” inspector’s mark on the left side of the frame above the magazine release, fine bore, fine plastic Keyes Fibre grips, checkered mainspring housing. According to the Standard Catalog of Military Firearms by Schwing, only55,000 pistols total were delivered in 1943 to the military from Union Switch & Signal Co., making it one of the most sought after of all the 1911/1911-A1 pistols; in this cataloger’s opinion, this one qualifies as a “9” on a scale of 1-10and worthy of inclusion in any fine collection.
