RIFLE WITH ACCOMPANYING BAYONET AND ACCOUTREMENTS. Cal. 30-06. S# 1050480. Bbl. 24" marked behind front sight "E", flaming bomb, "9-18". Import marked on left side of bbl. Aperture ladder rear sight graduated to 1600 yards. Sight ladder is marked "E". Blade front sight with protective ears. Bolt is marked "E" & handle is numbered on top "43C713". Also marked "B", flaming bomb. Bolt shroud, bolt stop, cocking piece & safety marked "E". Receiver is marked on left rail w/ flaming bomb & eagle acceptance mark. Walnut stock set. Stock is marked at forend tip w/ "E". Kerr Nobuckl web sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 16 7/8" fullered blade bayonet marked on left ricasso "1917" & encircled "REMINGTON". Right ricasso has flaming bomb over "U.S.", eagle head acceptance mark, "24" plus "X". Smooth walnut grips w/ 2 grooves. Right grip has bored soldier added groove. Leather scabbard w/ steel tips. Bayonet has 50% arsenal rework blue finish w/ thinning & wear. Balance of metal turning patina. Grips are well worn with sm. missing chips & handling marks. Blade has been heavily sharpened. Black leather scabbard is well worn but serviceable. Mills khaki cartridge belt w/ 10 pleated pockets. Belt is marked w/ Mills logo and indistinct date. Aluminum canteen marked "U.S." above "L.F. & C. 1918". Canteen cup is identically marked. Canteen cover marked "U.S." and otherwise unmarked. First aid pouch marked "R.I.A. 1919". Sealed first aid packet. Labeling includes "CARLISLE MODEL". Green colored metal cover is marked on back w/ "SULFANILAMIDE". CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework type finish w/ good appearance leaving wear, light staining & scattered handling marks. Metal retains 60% worn, blue finish. Bolt has been polished bright. Buttplate appears to be light gray parkerized replacement. Follower has been modified to allow bolt to close on empty mag. Very good shiny bore. Webbed items have fading, light wear & staining. Fasteners are functional. Stitching appears tight. Sm. tears around bottom of canteen cover, one of which has period repair. (24-1781/RW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
