CONVERTED TO PERCUSSION. Cal. 49 (smooth bore). NSN. The 40 1/4" octagon bbl. is slightly swamped and fitted with semi buck horn rear and long brass front sights. Bbl. is not maker marked. Trade type lock is converted to percussion with drum and nipple. Maker's name is partially visible (Ashworth?). A single trigger is fitted. Full length stock of tiger stripe maple extends to muzzle with 2" brass cap and is pinned to bbl. Brass mounts include a semi fancy patchbox with pierced finial and geometric shaped sideplates, trigger guard with finger spur, crescent buttplate with 2" return (patchbox cover release button under return) and long sideplate. Stock also features a classic small molded right hand cheekpiece. A hardwood ramrod is held by two beaded pipes and matching thimble. CONDITION: good. Iron parts with cleaning to brown with silver highlights. Stock has old refinish with details rounded. Brass well toned. Good bore with light pitting. Lock is operable. PROVENANCE: By descent, from the Albert Boardman II of Rye, N.Y. (01-20810/MGM). ANTIQUE. $600-1,000.
