US CIVIL WAR BELTS, BUCKLES & ACCOUTREMENTS.
This fine group includes a large "US" in oval buckle with spade hooks on a dyed white buff belt. Neither the belt or buckle are marked. The lot also has a M1851 sword belt plate on a black bridle leather belt. The belt has a Civil War cap box and a Civil War holster that is for an M1860 Colt Army revolver. Lastly, there is a M1855 bayonet with scabbard. The bayonet is marked on the ricasso "US". The scabbard has an early brown buff leather belt loop with copper rivets. CONDITION: US belt shows light overall wear. M1851 belt shows light to moderate wear, but remains solid. Cap box has light wear. Holster has moderate wear with significant flexing. Bayonet has a light gray patina, and the scabbard remains quite solid. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18740/BF). $1,000-1,300.
