US MODEL 1808 CONTRACT FLINTLOCK MUSKET
BARREL 44.5". CALIBER 69. Made by Thomas French of Canton Mass, all of which is stamped on lock, is dated 1812 with US within eagle. Deeply stamped US, V & Touch Mark on left side of barrel at breech. Approximately 4000 made for the War of 1812 with British. Left side of stock has a bold cartouche like a 3-leaf clover. Features all iron mountings, 3-bands, metal ramrod, sling swivels and full length walnut stock. Metal was finished in the white. Condition. One of the cleanest examples we have encountered. Metal has smooth patina mix with gun metal gray. Stock is excellent with minimal dings or impressions. Lock legends are sharp. No corrosion at breech, just some on the hammer. Bore is decent. A really nice War of 1812 example. ANTIQUE
