US MODEL 1903 SPRINGFIELD BOLT ACTION MILITARY

RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1468553. Bbl. 24". Rifle purchased from Director of Civilian Marksmanship & includes original matching S# receipt for this rifle from Department of the Army, Office of Director of Civilian Marksmanship dated May 2, 1950. S# indicates rifle mfg. in 1934. Springfield Armory bbl. dated June 1928 & was likely installed at time of Rock Island arsenal overhaul on the later receiver. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2,850 yards w/ volley notch. Dished elevation knob. Flat windage knob. Blade front sight. Swept bolt handle. Bolt marked on top w/ "2" & "7". Bolt sleeve is Smith Corona. All milled furniture except butt swivel. Stacking swivel is not installed but is included. Stacking swivel screw is not present. Fine checkered trap buttplate. Walnut stock set. Faint markings on left side included boxed "FJA" & boxed "RIA FK". Circled P under grip. Stock made w/out grasping grooves & has 2 recoil bolts. Brown leather military type sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 9 7/8" fullered blade M1 bayonet w/ plastic scabbard. Bayonet was correct for both 1903 & M1 rifles. Bayonet marked on left ricasso "U.C." "U.S." & "FLAMING BOMB". Ribbed composite grips. Bayonet retains original finish around handle. Blade has been sharpened resulting in extensive loss of finish. US marked scabbard has heavily worn surfaces showing laminations underneath. Includes original matching S# receipt & synthetic padded hard case. CONDITION: stock set has very nice arsenal rework finish w/ very light wear & scattered sm. handling marks leaving the markings faint but visible. Metal finish is lightly worn thinning original parkerizing w/ scattered handling marks. Bore is shiny w/ lightly worn lands. (21-4510/RW). CURIO. $500-700.
