Unusual Antique European 4-Barrel Breechloading Spurtrigger Repeating Pistol, in the style of Sharps & Hankins, NVSN, .42 or 11mm RF cal., 4.125'' square tip-up barrel group is without sights and unmarked, has .5'' stud at muzzle perhaps for an attachable dagger (not present); standing breech frame has front barrel hinge, central hammer with revolving striker, engraved barrel release button at left, 4 tiny square-box markings (proof marks?) at several places on both sides, integral spurtrigger sheath and bag-style gripstraps with lanyard ring at butt, varnished two-piece checkered hardwood grips. Mfg'd ca. 1860s-80s, in full-blued finish. Condition is near fine, the barrel group retaining approx. 70% thinning/darkening original blue, the frame with good traces of blue and an overall blue-brown patina, gripstraps gunmetal gray. Grips are sound showing worn checkering and slight warping to left panel. Barrel hinge is sturdy; action is smooth; bores dirty but show strong gradual-spiral rifling. This is a large, sturdy, very well-made and finished pistol, oddly unmarked as to maker or origin. Est.: $400-$600. (Antique)(John Ackerman collection)
