EJECTOR O/U HEAVY GAME GUN. Cal. 12 Ga. S# 30300. This fine gun retailed for $450 in 1936 when a model 21 Winchester could be bought for $65. This lovely gun has 32" demibloc bbls. w/ full length matted rib. Top bbl. is engraved "Von Lengenke & Detmold Inc." & "New-York". Breech area is engraved w/ well cut rose bouquet & scroll. Bottom bbl. at rear is stamped & engraved "GERMANY". Case hardened dbl. Kersten O/U scallop backed boxlock action features automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold), incepting safety sears & dbl. triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved w/ very high quality scroll & rose bouqets surrounding nicely detailed scenes of ducks. Left side shows a group of four ducks rising from a marsh & flying away. The right side shows another four ducks settling in to the marsh. "Grifelt & Co. Suhl" is under each scene. Fences are beautifully relief carved w/ scroll surrounding oak leaves & acorns. Reinforced area is also relief engraved w/ blossoms. Straight grip buttstock of finely veined & figured Circasian walnut measures 14 7/8" over brown "Old English" pad. Dainty flush inlet horn drop points are behind side panels. Closely spaced point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching 3-piece ejector forend has modified Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: T .729", B .728". Restriction: T .035" (FULL), B .035" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: T .030", B .029". STOCK: DAH:2 3/4". DAC: 1 11/16". LOP: 14 7/8". CAST: Neutral. WEIGHT: 8 lb. 4 oz. CONDITION: very fine as partially refinished. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a good quality reblack over some scattered light pits. Action retains approx 70% original case hardening color w/ hand worn silver highlights to wonderful engraving. Top lever & trigger guard retain most of their original bright blue, silvering on high edges & normal points of wear. Stocks retain nearly all of a good quality hand rubbed oil finish w/ a few subsequent marks. Checkering competently recut. Bores are bright & shiny w/ no noticeable problems except very slight swells behind chokes (not unusual w/ very tight chokes). Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Ejectors are slightly out of time.
