CARBINE ASSEMBLED BY SAGINAW. Cal. 30 Carb. S# 1790593. Bbl. 18", marked "UNDERWOOD 3-43" & "flaming bomb". Flip type rear sight marked "RC-S'G'S". Blade front sight w/ protective ears marked "IPN". Irwin Pedersen completed very few carbines & all other Irwin Pedersen carbines were assembled by Saginaw S'G' from a mixture of Irwin Pedersen & Saginaw S'G' parts following Saginaw's takeover of the IP facility in Grand Rapids April 1, 1943. This carbine was made approx. May 1943 in I.P.'s 1st S# block. Narrow bbl. band. Stamped sling swivel marked "UP". Receiver has 3 on left side. Flat bolt marked w/ S'G'. Straight cut slide marked S'G'. Milled trigger guard marked "IP". Push button safety marked "IP-A". Mag. catch marked "IP-W". Dog-leg hammer marked "IP". Oval cut high wood walnut buttstock marked w/ crisp, boxed S'G's & crossed cannons on right side. Stock is otherwise unmarked. 2 Rivet handguard marked S'G'. MAGS: 1-15 rd. marked "K-IP". CONDITION: stock & handguard have very high degree of original finish w/ scattered, tiny handling marks & approx. 1/4" filled knot in top of comb likely done during mfg. Metal has 80% original parkerized finish w/ light high point wear & notable sm. areas of thinning finish at receiver opening. Bore has a degree of shine & has sharp lands but last 4" near muzzle have frosted appearance w/ shallow pitting. (21-3591/RW). CURIO. $3,500-4,500.
