VIETNAM CAUTURED MAC 1950 PISTOL WITH PAPERS.

Cal. 9mm. S# B2493. Bbl. 4.5". Mfg. 1953-1960. Chrome plated finish. These single action, self loading pistols were manufactured between 1953 & 1960. They were made in batches of 9999 pistols, each batch given a different letter prefix. This particular piece has the prefix "B" putting its date of manufacture somewhere in the middle of production. Serrated slide w/ fixed sights. Left side controls. Included is a letter stating the following; "Took this pistol & holster off a dead NVA officer following a battle just South of the DMZ in the late Summer of 1967, during Operation Kingfisher. Turned it in to our BJ-SZ and told him I'd like to take it home - Unfortunately that didn't happen. Much later I had a friend of mine check with the BN to see if they still had it - They did - and he brought it home for me - Allbeit in his name." Signed by J.E. Goodrich 1 Lt / Capt (Selectee) in the USMC. 2 piece black plastic grips. Lanyard chain behind magazine. MAGS: 1 steel 9 rd. stamped "1950" on floor plate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Brown leather flap holster & cleaning rod, Form DD 603 "Registration of Trophy Firearms" dated 19 May, 1971, Original letter from Captain J. E. Goodrich detailing its capture. CONDITION: Chrome finish still covers the majority of the slide & frame though thinning in scattered spots, Thumb safety broken off. Missing firing pin. Grips demonstrate some use but little wear. Lanyard chain still present. Bore is dark but still retains descent rifling. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (23-102/JZ). CURIO. $800-1,200.
