Vintage Holster Lot.
Two Total. 1) Hand carved Slim Jim Holster. Made to fit an small guard 1851 Navy or 1861 Navy Colt or conversion. This early California style holster is the type used during the 1850-60's gold rush era and the earliest style civilian holster patterned after existing military holsters, exposes the grips and allows easy draw. Prior to this, most holsters were worn on saddles and those that were made for the hip used the military type full flap. Given the gun violence in California along its gold fields , this type holster was a favorite during that time. Very few have survived and almost none with the high quality carving to the front of holster, very intricate. Very nice example of these early holsters. The stitching is intact, sound. There is a couple of very minor tears to the belt loop. 2) 19th century brown leather, double loop, hand made holster. Fits the 1851 Navy, and 1860 Army. Complete and intact.
